• How can I try to reduce the occurrence of cracks in the BEALSTONE® coating?

    It is essential to always work on a stable, clean, and dust-free surface.

    The use of fiberglass or ISOTEX reinforcement mesh does not guarantee a perfect result, as these reinforcements can only accommodate very limited movement.

    If the substrate moves, the mesh stretches to absorb the stress, which creates tension in the BEALSTONE® coating. This tension can then cause multiple microcracks to form, rather than a single major crack localized at the site of the initial substrate crack.

    The treatment of so-called “active” cracks is always delicate and, in most cases, requires prior modification of the substrate. This is why existing expansion joints in the substrate must be transferred and maintained in the BEALSTONE® coating using appropriate expansion joints.
