An “agora” at the core of the school
The Nuestra Señora del Pilar College in Valladolid has undergone an extraordinary renovation. Wishing to take advantage of its large inner atrium, the school decided to create a unique space, as beautiful as it is symbolic: a spacious amphitheater with a clean, designer look.
The Agora was designed to reinvent the way people move around the school to encourage exchange and openness. The objective of this work was also to offer students a new place to gather and meet.
A design and symbolic space
Located at the heart of this square building, the Agora is a transverse open space that connects the different wings of the school. This configuration allows the different central points of the school (library, secretariat, hall, classrooms…) to communicate both visually and physically.
Overhung by an openwork ceiling made of wood and glass, the Agora was designed with terraces so that students can sit comfortably, while enjoying natural light and a view of the sky. Various events are held there by the school.
Projects without limits with MORTEX® coating
Thanks to its strength, flexibility, thinness and outstanding adhesion, MORTEX® coating was chosen for this unusual project. It was essential to use a coating that was easy to apply and that adapted to the technical constraints of such a space (curves, levels, etc.).
The architect took advantage of all customisation possibilities offered by the MORTEX® product to define the color, shades and effect that matched his ambitions. The result is a breathtaking amphitheater that students enjoy to the fullest!
